I'd like to welcome everyone that has just joined on the board. I know that everyone has been waiting for a long time for something like this to start up here at SDSU. Feel free to use this message board to post your issues regarding the hip hop scene, events that you are hosting, or just post up nude pictures of yourself ;D. This board and the club is open to anybody and everyone. Only one rule...please respect others and give their proper dues.
Please add any input regarding what you would like to see happen in SDHHC. For example, what programs would you like to see happen at SDSU? What performers would you like to see at SDSU? Just to name a few.
Thanks for supportin SDHHC and stay up.

This may be far fetched for now, but I would like to see scratch band performances from groups such as Ned Hoddings (as they were formally known). Or have SDHHC accommodate for a big scratch event such as the "Bastard Language Tour". This would bring some insight to scratch DJs in San Diego of a different, more musical, type of scratching opposed to the battle style of scratching that people are currently used to.

I'm thinking of hooking up with sean for something like that. CSL was able to bring down gunkhole in sd....maybe he might be able to help us throw an event like that. I want to talk to Vestax to see if we can get a No Tricks battle here at SD. That's a battle of strictly skratching. We'll see what we can do.

i know hhc has just opened up at sdsu and that there are many events coming up that streches out to all ages, but id like to see something happen with younger cats. to EDUCATE those younger minds and bring san diego hip hop up on the map...

thats what we are trying to do with HHC, we intend to educate the heads about the history of san diego hip hop and who has done things and how there was a rich scene. so stay tuned. we are going to provide a place for the advancement of the culture!!!

this is also a little far fetched but its kind of a dope idea:
put out a monthly sdhhc compilation cd/tape...sd mc's, and producers showcasing the san diego sound...and have san diego graf artists do the album art...maybe showcase a different graf artist and give contact info if he does art for hire...proceeds can go towards anything sdhhc needs cash for...or charity, or whatever.
this isnt just an empty idea either, i've been looking at releasing cd's independently and if you guys are really interested in putting this into motion, e-mail me and ill go more into depth with my ideas of how we would actually implement the idea.
let me know.

Nice. Dope Idea. Sounds like it could become a handful during everyone's busy times, but it sounds like you can make it work. I think with you and some of the key people that we already have in sdhhc, it can work. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's take on the idea.

i want us to do something like THAT! i kinda teach whoever goes to hot monkey love how to bboy. but nowww that i've been taught by crazy legs how to bboy, i'm sure i'm qualified to do that. i can totally host beatboxing workshops too. i think we have an emcee in our org...and a couple of DJs.. ...next semester maybe? eh eh eh?

Definately PJ that is something I've been wanting us to work towards. I think the main thing in order for our club to get anything done is to keep up communication with one another and continually exchange ideas about what we can change and do for the hip-hop community.

if we're not gonna use those weekly rooms next semester...maybe i can hold a bboy weekly workshop/session.. UCSD's session room was packed yesterday with people trying to learn. i also would rather offer free bboy classes as an alternative to the $40-60 class offered at the arc. and im guessing people would rather not pay for classes than pay for them. we can even advertise "LEARN FROM A BBOY WHO WAS TAUGHT BY CRAZY LEGS" to get more people to come.
ideally we should maybe do each month maybe something like week 1: Bboy Session/Workshop week 2: MC Session/Workshop week 3: Graff Session/Workshop [or maybe another bboy sess, if we cant find graff artists that can do this] week 4: DJ Session/Workshop/Exhibition
we have a while before we even need to work out the details for next semester, but it doesn't hurt to start early. let me know what you guys think!

Sounds good PJ. Everything that you've said so far is everything we have planned last semester. We wanted to offer a free practice spot for b-boys/b-girls at the dance studio and also we wanted to have a workshop for each element once a month, so that every week something was going on. Early this semester we met with the AS board and sat in front of their panel and petitioned to get Scripps Cottage weekly for either Wednesday or Thursday from around 5-10. However, we were denied. So we held off on the weekly workshops for now. But if you can find a new place to have a weekly workshop, that would be cool.
I wonder if CSL would hold b-boy and emcee practices in their store? They already hold a weekly scratch practice. But I don't know if their insurance will cover accidental injuries from break dancing. Haha. But I guess we can look into it.

ideally i'd like to have it at SDSU...but if not i have other ideas for places to hold workshops:
-random middle schools. [to keep impressionable minds away from southern rap and the hyphy movement...and so we'd be doing something positive in san diego] -hot monkey love [but i guess we'd have to charge] -chula vista YMCA [the place that holds cultures of 4] -ENS 380[isn't the head of the dance department our advisor?]
oh and i kinda got a cool name for our workshops... "reFRESHment courses" heh heh heh
